Detroit book lovers meet a fierce group of talented independent authors of adult & children books from across all genres! They shop books to fill up their home or work libraries with encouragement to share them across generations to come. Enjoy the soulful sounds of DJ Holly in celebration of Juneteenth & Black Music Month, delicious treats from local food vendors and community information & giveaways from our 2024 Event Sponsors!
This year, celebrated storytellers will share folktales LIVE Under The Tent from Africa and the African Diaspora focused on Juneteenth -- Intellectual Literacy= Freedom. Authors and attendees are invited to their stories. We will also host an art/crafts session making Do-It-Yourself fans and bookmarks. Crafters of all skill levels will be able to create the Juneteenth-inspired fans and bookmarks. Did we mention our KIDZONE? We encourage book lovers to bring the kids to get free Juneteenth silicone wristbands & treat boxes!! Lots of coloring activity for kids and souvenirs on sale i.e. t-shirts, necklaces and books.
