Or, maybe you are guiding and would like to begin mentoring a sister guide to step into her own?
If you have a specific passion for fishing and can teach on a topic, we'd love to hear about it!
This is a weekend for women who see fly fishing as a moment of peace. A place to be their authentic self and let go of the stress. Many of us have only connected through a social media platform, we talk on a daily basis and celebrate each other at a distance.
Let's come together and celebrate our growth and pass it forward. What we are currently able to provide:- Indoor teaching facilities to host a class of 10 students
- Outdoor teaching facilities with a casting pond
- An area to camp or park a camper/bus
- Standardized 10-student 5wt classroom set-up
- Standardized 10-student 7wt classroom set-up
- Basic vices for 10 students
- Guide advice on where to target specific species during your time in Michigan
- Fly shop on site
- Lodging - at additional cost but it's on-site
The goal for this event:
- Provide women a space to gather and teach others about fly fishing in a small venue setting
- Teach new lady anglers skills that have worked for us in the field, at the vice, and beyond
- Foster a community of lady anglers to share information beyond the weekend
What is expected of a teacher:
- To build a class or clinic on a topic that will help a new angler with a specific area: equipment knowledge, casting, fly selection, fly tying, safety and planning, conservation, fish handling + photography
- Have ready a 45-minute program - doesn't need to be all lecture, interactive classes are great
- Willing to jump in and assist as needed for other instructors as asked
- Attend Kick-off Meeting - 90 minutes - April (will poll for date time w/ selected instructors)
- Attend 2 Check-Ins - 90 minutes each - Early June + late July dates will be announced at kick-off
- Partner with 1 teacher in preparing class prior to the event - can be as easy as text check-ins - IG messages
What's the dream
- For us as a community to fundraise enough to cover all of our student's scholarships - 25 students - tickets are set at $100 per person.
- For teachers to have travel expenses covered through our fundraising efforts
- To build a women's guiding community event that fosters growth, creativity and positivity
- Bring awareness to how we may be a small community we are strong and growing through an abundance mindset
Michigan in the summer is magical, this weekend will be great for mousing at night and fishing terrestrials. Poppers will create plenty of commotion on lakes and bigger rivers for smallmouth. Kings
Cold water tributaries hold spunky browns and brook trout. Carp, bowfin... anything you love to chase, we'll be able to help you in your own fishing mission.
