Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
A volunteer’s main job is a lot of hard work, including scrubbing and disinfecting cages, cleaning poop, and other tasks that are not as fun as playing with animals, but necessary for the animal’s care. As the goal of wildlife rehabilitation is to release the animals back into the wild. Because of this, it is imperative that the animals remain wild and do not become habituated to people, including staff. Wildlife rehabilitation is a
hands-off type of animal work and a professional distance must be maintained at all times.
The key to being a truly great volunteer is commitment and consistency. We require volunteers willing to commit to the shifts they sign up to, and not back out when last minute social opportunities pop up or when the weather is too nice to pass up a day at the cottage. Our orphaned animals need feedings no matter what.
We will be in contact with everyone in late March / early April - in groups based on the roles you indicate you are interested in.
