2024 BB2P Application

Applications to the "Building Bridges to the Professoriate" (BB2P) program are requested from underrepresented minority (URM) undergraduate and graduate students at Fresno State and Cal State Fullerton who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. and becoming a college professor in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).

Track 1 BB2P Scholars are students who have not previously engaged in independent research (they are “new to research”). Successful candidates will be engaged in summer research at UCR in the Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP) (June 24 to August 16, 2024) where they will also participate in summer workshops and be provided with housing and a stipend for the Summer. They will conduct research under the direction of a UCR faculty member and join the CUSP-BB2P community. Click here for more details about Track 1 expectations and outcomes.

Track 2 BB2P Scholars are students who are actively engaged in research at their Cal State campus. They will present their research at UCR’s Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP) symposium in August. They will have a UCR faculty and CUSP graduate student mentor who will provide advice about applying to PhD programs, life as a graduate student and career opportunities after graduate school. They will participate in summer workshops hosted by MSRIP as well as the in-person BB2P-CUSP orientation meeting at UCR in the Spring, and join the CUSP-BB2P community. Click here for more details about the Track 2 expectations and outcomes.

Application deadline: March 31st, 2024
