2023 Steer Riding
Fill out this form to enter your child in the 2023 Cantaloupe Festival Rodeo.  


  • ONLY A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MAY REGISTER A CHILD IN THE MUTTON BUSTIN’ EVENT. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • The entry fee for Steer Riding is $25.  Entries limited to 20 total for 2023.
    Each participant receives one general fair admission ticket for themselves and one general fair admission ticket for one parent/guardian. (other family members will need to purchase their own tickets to the 2023 Cantaloupe Festival to )
  • ONLY CHILDREN BETWEEN AGES 11-14 and NOT exceeding 150 pounds may ride in the Steer Riding event.
  • Please check in at the Contestant booth when you arrive at the fairgrounds. A signed release form (available online) must be signed by a parent and turned in at check-in. Failure to check-in before the rodeo performance and return the signed waiver will result in forfeiting your child’s participation and entry fee.
  • According to PRCA safety requirements, all contestants must wear long sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy shoes or boots. No spurs. Protective vests and helmets are required as well and are NOT provided by the rodeo or festival.  Protective vests can be purchased online, and most contestants use hockey helmets with face cage.
  • Riders must provide their own bull rope for riding.  
  • One adult may accompany the contestant into the rodeo arena (adult must be dressed according to the aforementioned rules). No food or drinks allowed. Adults who accompany child behind the chutes should are expected to follow instructions from the arena staff. 
  • Rodeo Organizers will contact you to let you know when your child will be up in the rodeo.
