October 1, 2020 CTLE Virtual Workshop Registration - Decolonize your classroom: A case study for inclusive teaching
Title: Decolonize your classroom: A case study for inclusive teaching
Date: Thursday, October 1, 10:00-11:00am
Facilitators: Amy Rector, School of World Studies

Anthropology is a discipline fraught with historically colonial themes and avenues of inquiry. In this workshop, anthropology instructors will explore how these themes have shaped the way the discipline is conceived and taught, and strategies they’ve used for “de-colonizing” the content and pedagogy of Virginia Commonwealth University’s large "Introduction to Anthropology" course. This session will include a discussion of how lessons learned from anthropology can be applied in other disciplines.
