Anybody can join - you don't even need to be a regular content creator or live streamer.
To participate in the
https://twitch.tv/MakerDeck stream, you're agreeing that you've read / understood these guidelines. We assume you've also joined (or will join, use) the
https://discordapp.com/invite/dpHP2uB server. You might want to follow & participate with
https://twitter.com/MakerDeck as well.
1. Use a web browser + camera and MUTE YOUR MIC.
2. If approved by the team, join the invite link and wait until we can rotate.
3. Be patient, be courteous, be respectful, check your ego at the door.
Maximize MakerDeck
- This isn't a pump-and-dump; use MakerDeck to actively network.
- We hope you get out of this what you put into it.
- Consider hanging in chat - people ask questions.
- Use !addmake [details, links, etc.] so people in chat can type !make [username]
- Keep the Twitch stream playing on a second monitor, TV, or additional screen.
- You can integrate the MakerDeck stream in your own Twitch streams!!!
Best Practices
- The closer you get to the action + more light, the better it'll look.
- Stream a clean feed (no text, overlays, etc.).
- Use the 16:9 (not 4:3) aspect ratio + 1080p.
- Put what you're making after your name.
- Only make family-friendly / non-controversial things.
- When you see issue with a camera/make, try to let that person know + ping in the backstage channel.
- Follow & tag

- Consider auto-hosting / hosting MakerDeck and adding it to your Twitch shelf.
- We're all on the honor system; trust is not given, it's earned.
Understand Rotation / Kicking
- When you stream into MakerDeck, the possibility of kicking is always implied.
- Don't get upset if you're kicked - it's NOT personal, and you can ALWAYS rejoin.
- Be ready & willing to drop out of the stream; you can (of course) still chat.
- We max out at 10 simultaneous participants at one time in-stream.
- If the stream is full, comment in Twitch chat requesting rotation and someone may drop.
- We may kick if the stream is full and people are trying to get in.
- If something stops on your end unattended, we may kick.
MakerDeck Context
- This channel (and our focus) isn't about any one person, but many together.
- MakerDeck isn't THE community, it's a commons that connects you to others.
- You must adhere to the Twitch ToS / Community Guidelines (shouldn't be an issue).
- Understand that people can & will rebroadcast, reshare that which happens in MakerDeck.
