InstrumentMentoring.com is offering free online instrument mentoring to elementary and middle school students currently enrolled in a public-school band program. Through the use of electronic communication, such as Zoom, FaceTime, Google Hangout, and/or Skype, young musicians would be coached, on a one-on-one level, by high school band students of All District level playing ability. The goal is to provide a resource for young musicians, allowing them to maintain skills (and possibly make forward progress) during this time of uncertainty. This is not intended to replace private instruction, but is instead meant to help students maintain their basic skills, answer questions, and get some one-on-one help with current materials.
This independent program is being piloted in Wake County by Millbrook High School student Trevor Petzold.
Students interested in receiving free mentoring should sign up below. From the data received, every attempt will be made to match qualified high school musicians with young musicians. Sessions will be scheduled for 15 minute each. Through this program, young musicians can get help with classroom band playing assignments, scales, and basic technique.
