Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Glendale Unified School District (“GUSD”) and the City of Glendale Library Arts & Culture (“GLAC”) department have a new exciting partnership to facilitate the creation of student library cards for GUSD students. The student library card does not replace any existing Glendale Library card that your child may have but will be an additional card with added benefits for your child to use.

The following are some of the library services students can benefit from when utilizing their new Glendale Student Library Card:

● Instantly access a giant online e-collection, including books, audiobooks, graphic novels, newspapers and magazines for students in preschool through high school.

● Practice language skills using the Mango Languages learning tool and e-materials in FLAG languages and English.

● Receive live online tutoring through Homework Help Now, available in English and Spanish.

● Practice core grade-level math and language arts skills through Learning Express.

● Participate in Virtual Library Reading Challenges that support a love of reading and learning.

● Borrow up to 3 books or audiobooks from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, with no fines or fees for overdue or lost materials.

IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO OPT-OUT, NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED ON YOUR PART.

>> IMPORTANT: UNLESS YOU AFFIRMATIVELY OPT OUT OF THIS PROGRAM, THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL SHARE WITH THE GLENDALE LIBRARY CERTAIN “DIRECTORY INFORMATION” OF EACH STUDENT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
● Student’s First and Last Name
● Birthdate and Grade Level
● School and Teacher Name

GUSD will also share with the Glendale Library the name, address, phone number, and email address of one (1) parent or legal guardian listed in the student’s records.
