This is a tool that will help you to discover whether you have the current knowledge to sign up for point counts for the Newfoundland Breeding Bird Atlas. You will hear the songs of 18 bird species from your region: 15 most common, and 3 others. Additionally, there is a 1-minute, 2-minute, and 3-minute point count sample recording that you can practice with. This will be a great introduction to point counts, as the majority of birds detected during point counts are never seen. Don't worry if you don't excel right now; you can always practice more, or get in touch with your Regional Coordinator about borrowing a Zoom recorder to bring on your point counts with you.
