ChatGPT, Generative AI Tools, and the PR Classroom: A Space for Discussion & Collaboration

Join us for a virtual chat about AI tools!

When: Thursday, April 13, 2-3pm EDT/1-2pm CDT/11am-12pm PDT

What: Join the PRD Teaching Committee in an informal discussion on the challenges and opportunities brought on by generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GPT-4, Google Bard) in public relations education. The virtual discussion session aims to provide a safe and open space for public relations educators to share our experience, exchange ideas and resources, and create opportunities for future collaboration on GIFTs (great ideas for teaching) and pedagogical research.

Why: The recent technology breakthroughs in generative AI such as (Chat)GPT, Bard AI, and Midjourney have attracted considerable attention from educators and practitioners. While much is yet to unfold for the future, discussing generative AI in public relations education is important because it helps students and professionals understand the technology, navigate ethical considerations, identify strategic communication opportunities, and future-proof their skills.

(Disclosure: Part of the paragraph above is adapted from the ChatGPT response on “Why do we need to discuss generative AI in public relations education?”)

What to prepare for this virtual discussion? There is no formal preparation needed. The virtual session will follow the prompts listed below to create a space for PR educators to openly discuss the challenges, opportunities, teaching ideas, and implications of generative AI.

We will send you a Zoom meeting link!
