As part of our mission to expand access to the sport of rock climbing and outdoor recreation for LGBTQIA+ communities in the New York metropolitan area and eastern New York, every year we offer a set number of free climbing passes for The Cliffs network of gyms to LGBTQIA+ community members requesting financial assistance.
We offer financial assistance on a self-selecting basis, and community members that use this program often meet one or more of the following criteria:
- rent burdened
- at or below 200% of the federal poverty line
- unemployed or underemployed
- living paycheck to paycheck
- debt burdened
- on state or federal assistance programs such as SNAP
- and/or living with other circumstances that cause financial stress/burden.
We limit this program to two passes per person per week (usable at any of The Cliffs locations). If you feel like you qualify for financial assistance based on the description above, please fill out the form below. As noted in the form, you may also request to be paired with a mentor who is a seasoned member of the CRUX climbing community that can help you start/continue your climbing journey.
Upon completion of this form, be on the lookout for a follow up email with more information within a week.
Please feel free to reach out to
info@climbcrux.org if you have questions about your eligibility or if you want to further explain your situation.
