GOGBOT Festival in Enschede (The Netherlands), is an annual art & music festival focusing on creative technology and the future. This year the festival takes places from 7 - 10 September.
We are looking for volunteers to help out during the festival, ranging from working at the information point to attendants protecting artworks to cooks to bar volunteers to runners. If you are interested in helping out, please read the information below and fill in the questions :D
The theme of GOGBOT 2023 is 'Feed Your Head - Drugs & A.I.'.
Drugs are like technology and weapons: they are not neutral. They cannot be separated from the people who use them, strategically deploy them or, on even actively fight them. Nor can they be separated from their context. We live in a world where systems do not always do what they were once intended to do. A.I. - with ChatGTP as its latest addition -, is one such system. Against A.I. incoprorated control and extraction mentalities stands DIY "programming" through drugs. The tension between A.I. and drugs- we call it 'hard tech' versus 'soft tech'-is ambivalent and paradoxical. Do both systems offer redemption or captivity, are they remedy or poison? Do they lead to creativity or madness? Or both? FEED YOUR HEAD juxtaposes two fields of force. With A.I controlling our thinking, Big Pharma tweaking our hormones, and porn controlling our desire, people are increasingly choosing drugs as a form of resistance. They no longer want to be guinea pigs in someone else's laboratory. They want to experiment themselves and resist total assimilation.
GOGBOT challenges the status quo. With 75 artists, 4 xpo's, 75 DJs and 3 club nights we call for a radically different future!

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers generally sign up for 2 or 3 shifts, you can of course sign up for more :)
For your help you get a access to the Opening Party at WARP and one of the afterparties at Metropool (Acid Rave with Miss Djax and Acid Junkies on Friday or Techno Rave with Ben Sims, Ø [Phase], KRTM on Saturday) and a t-shirt. Food and drinks on the days you help out is provided, including the joy of working with awesome people!
ROLES
- Hosting at information desk (informing visitors about the program and the content of the festival)
- Attendant (taking care of art works, supporting artists when needed, informing visitors, cleaning up the areas)
- Food (helping cooking and serving)
- Bar (volunteers with experience)
- Runner (you help the location manager to solve little issues and replace missing volunteers :)
- Volunteers backstage (you take care of the volunteer area, make snacks, prepare coffee, re-motivate the troops etc...)
- Ticketing during our club night on Thursday 7 September (this is a NIGHT SHIFT!)
The festival is only possible with your help! Every year we have many people from previous years coming back to help again, but we are always looking for new people!
