Director or Assistant Director: Internship Position Description Summary
The Director position is an unpaid internship. Program directors ensure their program is running smoothly and efficiently with mentoring and support of Y.E.S. staff. The Assistant Director is a volunteer position with the purpose of assisting the program directors to ensure that the program is running smoothly and efficiently with the mentoring and support of YES staff. BOTH positions are integral to the success of the program and the main distinction between the Director and Assistant role is the weekly time commitment.
Training (Required for Directors. Highly recommended, but not required for Assistant Directors):
- Attend and actively participate in the IN PERSON three-day Director Training Retreat scheduled on the Wed– Fri before the first day of classes each semester. Scheduled dates: Fall 2023 (August 16-18)
- Attend & actively participate in weekly Monday Night Class (MNCs) from 4:45-6:50pm.
Requirements/Commitments
- Directors: 2 semester commitment. Approximately 8-12 hours per week.
- Assistants: 1 or 2 semester commitment. Approximately 6-10 hours per week.
- Hours include: 2 hours MNC, 2-4-office hours, 1 hour for weekly meeting, 1-4 hours a week of service, plus 2-7 hours for tabling, fundraising or any other additional work
- Minimum 2.0 GPA (if you anticipate a lower GPA, please inform YES Coordinator asap).
- Enrolled me in Y.E.S. 1-unit course “Issues in Community Volunteering” or a SLAI course (using YES as field placement)
