RDYO Scholarship Awards Overview:
RDYO’s scholarship competition aims to reward young musicians for hard work, musicality, and a positive attitude. Scholarships are presented by RDYO’s Board of Directors during the Awards Concert in June of each year. All eligible musicians are encouraged to apply by voluntary application.
Eligibility:
1. RDYO Scholarship Awards Competition is open to ALL members of RDYO’S regular divisions
(Symphony Orchestra, Senior Strings, Intermediate Strings, Junior Strings, Senior Winds, and Junior Winds) who wish to apply.
2. Applicants must be enrolled in RDYO for at least five months prior to the competition date.
3. Applicants with more than three un-excused absences are disqualified from auditioning.
4. Fees must be paid to date or an arrangement agreed to at the time of application must be made.
Each applicant will perform one polished piece and orchestral excerpts chosen by the conductors in a closed-door audition for an impartial adjudicator (well-known and respected musicians from outside the Orchestra). Piano accompaniment is NOT permitted.
At least three participants from each division receive awards: cash or a tuition scholarship.
