This form is to express your interest in participating in a consortium for the composition of a new work for trumpet and fixed media by Gerson Batista. The difficulty of the piece will be appropriate for professionals, graduate students, and ambitious undergraduate students. The piece will be written with the unique compositional voice of Gerson Batista while taking inspiration from several notable composers, particularly the works of Caroline Shaw. The duration of the piece will be 10-15 minutes. Exact instrumentation has not yet been determined, but any instruments within the trumpet family are being considered.

As a consortium member, you will have the opportunity to give input on the composition throughout the process and will be credited as a co-commissioner of the piece. You will have the right to perform the work after the premier performance, which will be given by the consortium leader. The fee for participating in the consortium is $150 USD total, due in 2 installments.

Important Dates:

December 17, 2022 - Virtual interest meeting with the composer. Join us to discuss the vision of the piece and ask any questions you may have for the composer

January 15, 2023 - Deadline for sending signed contract, first payment due within 15 days of contract signing

August 1, 2023 - Final delivery of the completed work

August 1, 2023 - Final payment due

December, 2023 - Premier performance, given by the consortium leader
