IWG Attendance Policy

Here at IWG, we’ve learned that the best client outcomes are achieved when our clients consistently attend sessions.  Although each missed appointment has the potential to interfere with treatment, a client is considered to be inconsistent when they have missed 5 of the last 10 appointments, whether they have actually canceled with contact or no-showed without contact. After 5 missed appointments out of the past 10, clinicians are not obligated to continue to reserve scheduling for that client.

Missed Appointment Policy
Attending every scheduled session is an expectation. However, we understand that things come up and clients occasionally need to cancel appointments.  If you must cancel an appointment, you are expected to do so 24 hours in advance. You can email, text, or leave a voicemail message.   If you give less than the mandatory 24-hour notice, the canceled session is considered a missed appointment.  All no-shows are automatically recorded as missed appointments.

When a client misses an appointment without the required notice, the clinician will make reasonable efforts to contact the client by telephone to discuss why the missed appointment occurred and how to overcome barriers to attendance.  The clinician will confirm that the client understands the attendance policy and will also confirm the next session.

After 3 consecutive missed appointments (no shows) without any response from a client, future appointments will be removed from the clinician’s schedule.  The clinician will send a Discharge Letter to inform the client they have been removed from scheduling and they can contact the intake coordinator should they choose to return to services when they are able to commit to attendance.
