Stone & Orchid: A Living Sculpture Demonstration with Tony Lennon  

In conjunction with the exhibition Nurture/Nature, Ston & Orchid: A Living Sculpture Demonstration with Tony Lennon, tailored to highlight his unique artistic practice of integrating sculpted sandstone with Australian rock orchids. The concept combines live demonstration and interactive audience engagement to offer a rich, immersive experiece.

VENUE: Korean Cultural Centre Australia (GF 255 Elizabeth St Sydney)

PROGRAM:  Live Demonstration and Q&A (*Afternoon tea will be provided.)

- Showcases Tony Lennon's sustainable sculpture practice combining hand-carved sandstone and Australian rock orchids

- Demonstrates an environmentally conscious processing using: Sandstone off-cuts from a local quarry, Orchids propagated by the artist, Homegrowm tree fern pulp, Charcoal made from dead wood on his property

- Orchids are tied with biodegradable jute string in a jute bag, which decomposes as roots anchor to the stone

ABOUT THE ARTIST:  Tony Lennon (b. 1952) is an Australian artist known for his unique sculptural practice that breathes new life into stone. Through his work, Tony carves sandstone into sculptural forms that serve as hosts for cultivating Australian rock orchids. Since 2007, Tony has exhibited extensively across Australia, with hilghlights including Penjing and the Sydney Rock Orchid (2007) and Orchid Rock (2008) at Penrith Regional Art Gallery, Metamorphoo (2012) at Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, Vanitas Stilleven (2013) at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, and Efflorescent (2014) at Goulburn Regional Art Gallery. His work has also appeared in the Outback Art Prize (2014) and solo shows at Saint Cloche, Sheffer Gallery, and the Japanese Gardens, Cowra.
