Interest in Ready-to-Use Climate Change Resources
A group from the Ontario Association of Physics Teachers (OAPT) has been working on some ready-to-use ready-to-use resource: Climate Change for Beginners. We need teachers to try it out and give us feedback. As discussion about Climate Change often leaves students with negative feelings, we have included uplifting and hopeful material in each and every lesson.

Grade 10 Science (Unit)

The lessons include easy demos, simulations, short videos and student-centered discussions. They also contain explanations and extra information for teachers. The lessons are provided in both Google Doc and Slide formats. Each lesson contains some hopeful information, so that students (and their teacher) don’t fall into despair.

The first five lessons deal with the science behind Climate Change.

  • The Earth is Getting Warmer
  • How Do We Know?
  • Feedback Loops – How is it all Connected?
  • The Ocean is Changing
  • The Sea Level is Rising
The next set of lessons deal with how we can live with these changes.
  • How Can We Adapt?
  • Greening Electricity
  • Carbon Capture

Grade 11 Physics (1 Lesson per unit)
The resource is organized as full or half class lessons that accompany each unit. A Google Slide for each lesson is provided. There are five lessons in total. You can do whichever ones you like, but there is a progression. These resources are ready-to-use, but you are welcome to modify them to suit your needs. We would love to hear about the modifications.

Grade 12 Physics (Topics per unit)
The resource is organized as Topics with background information for each unit that could be discussed throughout the course. The time required for some Topics can range from a few minutes to the whole period, depending on what you want to do with it. A Google doc is provided.

These resources are ready-to-use, but you are welcome to modify them to suit your needs. We would love to hear about the modifications.

If you are interested in trying it out or would like more information, please fill in this form for further communication.

Thanks!
