This Side of Paradise is the debut novel of the American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Through Fitzgerald's lyrical and graceful writing, the book depicts the portrait of a new era in American history.
Fitzgerald became the first writer to turn the national spotlight upon the so-called Jazz Age generation characterized by leisure and hedonistic activities.
“The Book Club” meetings are organized once a month. Each month a different book is selected from the America House library based on the theme of the month. Participants are not required to read or know about the entire book before the session. During the meeting, they get to know more about the author and learn interesting facts about the book itself, and the context in which it was written. They read portions or chapters from the book and have a guided discussion on what they have read.
The purpose of “The Book Club” is to encourage America House visitors aged 14+ with an intermediate level of English to read more, discover new writers and topics, and borrow books from the America House library.
