About TeachOSM:TeachOSM aims to empower and support educators at all levels to integrate open source
mapping and the OpenStreetMap ecosystem of tools in the classroom. Led by a volunteer
steering committee, TeachOSM provides educator training, content and curriculum for
integrating OSM in the classroom and advocates for OSM in educational settings. Started in
2013 as a grassroots project by educators for educators, TeachOSM is now a program under
OpenStreetMap US, a nonprofit organization that supports the OpenStreetMap project in the
United States through education, data, and membership services.
What you'll do:As our intern, you will work closely with OSM US staff and the TeachOSM volunteer steering committee to achieve program goals, based on your interests. This may include communications, mentorship, curriculum development, website development, or mapathon validation. - Scholarship (up to $500 limit) for the State of the Map US conference
- Opportunity to develop skills and gain experience such as professional tools & software (i.e. communications management software, customer relationship management software); training and public engagement; program & material development
- Opportunities to attend and present at virtual workshops/conferences
- Opportunities to help coordinate content for Mappy Hours and other TeachOSM events
- Cultivate relationships across the OpenStreetMap community and with OSM US partnering organizations.
- Creative flexibility to help us grow and expand our programming.
Duration & Commitment:
This position requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours/week for a duration of 16 weeks. We want to support you and make this internship experience flexible and will work around your schedule as best as possible.
