The TRANS Program Focus Group Assessment is a questionnaire for transgender and nonbinary/gender nonconforming (TGNC) Mississippians who are interested in participating in counseling led by a licensed social worker, in the form of small, virtual focus groups (up to 10 people, per group).
In contrast to the TRANS Tuesday & TRANS 2.0 Support Call, this is a formal environment where participants will engage in evidence based practices supported by the American Psychological Association (APA) and will serve to address common challenges faced by the TGNC community, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors. TRANS Program recognizes that these services aren't always accessible due to cost. Because we have identified a sincere need for mental health services among TGNC people, we are pleased that our licensed social worker (Greer Massey, LMSW) will offer these services at no cost.
GROUP SESSION SCHEDULE
Group sessions will take place on Fridays, from 6 PM - 7:30 PM CST via Zoom. Video is optional, but preferred. Having a microphone is a must. Closed captions are available.
Group 4 will meet April 19th - May 24th.
Group 5 will meet June 7th - July 12th.
Group 6 will meet July 26th - August 30th.
DISCLAIMER
Focus groups will follow state guidelines per the Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) and group guidelines set by the licensed social worker, placing a priority on group confidentiality and respect. Interested participants must identify as TGNC, reside in the state of Mississippi, and be at least 18 years of age. Although groups will be small in size (with limited space), we will conduct multiple groups over time. Anyone who qualifies and expresses interest in participation will be offered the opportunity to join a focus group at some point. Please answer each question honestly and truthfully. This will ensure proper screening and placement.
