Learning Event #6 - Fourth Commandment
What is the 4th Commandment? *
Martin Luther writes in the Small Catechism that this means that "we are to fear and love God, so that we neither despise nor anger our parents and others in authority, but instead honor, serve, obey, love, and respect them."  Do you always honor your parents? *
Who are some people in authority over you OTHER than your parents?  If you can't think of any, think of other adults in your life who are in charge of what you and other people do. *
What are some of the things that your parents do for you that deserve your respect?  Write down 3 things you appreciate about your parents. *
Watch the video, then answer the questions below.
The 3 points in the video were that you should Respect your parents, Follow their wisdom, and Forgive their mistakes.  Are those easy or hard to do?  Which is the easiest?  Which is the hardest? *
Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper? *
Agree or Disagree? *

Disobeying is okay if you know your parents will say no.
Since your parents put the school in charge of you, to honor your parents means to obey your teacher too.
If you always obey your parents, your life will always be perfect.
God doesn't care if we have a bad attitude, as long as we obey.
God promised a better life for those who obey.
It's not really disobeying if your parents didn't actually say no.
When Jesus was a child, he always obeyed his human parents.
When Jesus was an adult, he always obeyed his Father in Heaven.
