Sourdough Bread Contest Entry
Dear Sourdough Bread enthusiast;

Preheat your ovens! Join us to celebrate sourdough and community by entering Dewey Memorial Hall’s Sourdough Bread Baking Contest. The culinary celebrity judges will be Rachel Portnoy, (former owner of Chez Nous/Cafe Triskele and baking instructor at Canyon Ranch), Patrizia Barbagallo (owner of Pixie Boulangerie), and Robbie Robles (owner of Roberto’s Pizza).

We are offering cash prizes for the best Traditional Sourdough bread and the best Gluten Free Sourdough bread. Breads will be judged by our 3 celebrity judges based on flavor, texture/crumb, crust, scent, etc. Breads will receive numbers upon arrival in order to maintain anonymity of the bakers during the judging and tasting process.

Bakers are invited to stay for the wine tasting, cheese, and bread tasting.

Requirements to enter:

Pre-Register by Feb 21st (there is no fee, but donations are greatly appreciated)
The registration form is here. We are asking bakers to provide two 2 pound loaves (a 2 pound loaf contains approximately 4 cups of flour). One loaf is for judging and tasting and one will be raffled off. Loaves should be baked with the traditional sourdough fermentation process (no commercial yeast). Grain variations are welcome, but please do not add additional ingredients such as onion, fruits, nuts, seeds, or spices.

Your TWO 2 pound loaves must arrive at Dewey Hall by 5:00pm on Friday March 4th. Earlier is better! We can accept entries as early as 3pm.
