Member Expectations

The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association acts on behalf of and serves the needs of the Alumni Association.

The Board of Directors shall actively seek the needs of the Alumni Association and communicate findings to the College, and likewise develop an understanding of the needs and aspirations of the College and promote ways for the alumni at large to engage in the strategic direction of the institution.

In order to be effective in this role the Board of Directors must build successful relationships with alumni through presence at College events and as ambassadors of the Saint Mary’s story.

Whereas successful relations are the result of the strategic and deliberate cultivation of alumni as leaders, volunteers, advocates and donors for Saint Mary’s College of California the Alumni Association Board of Directors will work to:

Enhance the Alumni Association’s position as a vital part of the College community by promoting loyalty, connection and philanthropy among alumni
Foster multi-directional engagement among alumni, students, faculty and staff
Connect alumni and friends strategically back to Saint Mary’s College of California by linking their interests to opportunities at the College
Support students through scholarships and programs that foster a life-long commitment to the College, the Association and one another
Extend the reach of the Alumni Engagement & Events Office by collaborating on shared objectives for engaging alumni in the life of the College
Advocate, promote and educate the public concerning the value Saint Mary’s College of California as an institute of higher learning with clear academic distinction
