The College of Social Science Career Services Office and the Department of Political Science are partnering to bring a Careers in Political Science event to campus. This event will focus on career options available in political science outside of law-focused careers. Our speakers will feature Ryan Irvin, who is the President of Change Media Group, and Nyjai Black, Account Strategist at the Change Media Group.
Ryan has been involved
in national political campaigns, created communication and strategies for
national politicians and organizations, is connected with the city, state and
federal government and is also really connected to leaders and policymakers in
Washington, DC. Ryan is also an alum of MSU. Ryan was featured in a NY Times
article for his targeting expertise.
His organization
Change Media Group was identified as one of the top 10 fastest growing organizations in Michigan, and
among top 500 in the US in 2019.
Nyjai
was born and raised in Detroit, MI. She received her bachelor’s degree in
Public Policy with a minor in City Development from Michigan State University
in 2020. While at MSU Nyjai studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand. She
was guest speaker/panelist for MSU political-science classes informing students
about civic engagement. Nyjai is the former Communications Director/Finance
Operations-Manager for Duggan for Detroit. After Mayor Duggan was elected to
his third term as mayor, Nyjai went to become the Network Engagement Manager
for the Michigan After-School Partnership. She loved the nonprofit sector, but
politics flows in and through Nyjai’s bloodstream. She has a true passion for
her hometown Detroit and genuinely loves to help and be of service to people.
This event will be held on November 11th at 11am in 107 South Kedzie Hall.
