CODE OF CONDUCT & GROUP RIDING ETIQUETTE When riding on a Sugar Bottom Bikes group ride, I
agree to:
1.
Place the safety of myself and
others as my first priority when riding in the group, communicating any
movements prior to making them and receiving acknowledgment from nearby riders.
2.
Maintain a safe following
distance at all times depending on the conditions, but never closer than 1 foot
for every 1 mph over 10 mph (e.g. 5 feet minimum at 15 mph and 10 feet minimum
at 20 mph
3.
Show up prepared (all equipment
working, water, food, ready to ride)
4.
Be able to self support yourself
(helmet, lights, flat kit, multitool, water, etc.)
5.
Point out hazards & oncoming
traffic both verbally & with gestures
6.
Follow all traffic laws applicable to cyclists
7.
Ride no more than two abreast,
choosing riding single file when visibility is limited.
8.
Take care to be light &
gradual when braking, taking a pull at the front, shifting, and standing up
from the saddle.
9.
Not pass other cyclists on the
right.
10.
Warn other
riders of road hazards and other dangers using accepted verbal warnings and hand
signals.
11.
Follow the
instructions of Ride Leaders.
