Teen Academy will take place on Wednesdays from 3-5PM and consists of two one hour courses. Teen Academy's spring semester will consist of "The Big Three" with Heidi Nawrocki BS, MS and "Art History and Activism" with Phoebe Durst BA, MFA.
---The Big Three: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with Heidi Nawrocki BS, MS
Have you ever wondered how batteries work? How scientists are able to source an outbreak of disease? Or maybe you've wondered about big questions, like the wave theory of matter? This twelve week course will help students to dip their toes into three major disciplines of science; chemistry, biology, and physics. Students will learn how to think like a scientist, keep a science notebook, and even learn the history behind some amazing scientists. Each week, we will focus on a specific scientist and their contribution: like John Snow and how he was able to source a cholera outbreak in London in 1854.
--- Art History & Activism with Phoebe Durst BA, MFA
In this course teens will work on creating a working chronology of significant events in the modern and postmodern periods. They will learn to develop skills in visual language and describing artwork through photography, painting, sculpture, graphic art, and books.
Courses are designed as an intensive drop off program for students ages 13-17.
