ParentSquare is Mrs. Rawlins prioritized means of communicating Weekly Newsletters, one-on-one private messaging, class posts, posting calendar events, photographs, and so much more. It is also a way to send praises or behavior referrals to the parent/guardian with regards to a students ability following the Pirate Code and work ethic for you to see. ParentSquare is also connected to Parent Portal, so if your contact information is not correct you will miss out on a lot of important events and happenings at school.

Were you aware that ParentSquare is a tool used to not only receive information, but also sign-up for Parent-Teacher Conferences, Volunteering, upcoming events, and communicating back with the teacher?
Check all that apply to you.

Other means of communication also take place in the event a response isn't received through ParentSquare.

What is another very popular way Parkside communicates with families at least once a week?

Fall Teacher-Parent Conferences take place at the end of the 1st quarter or at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Traditional face-to-face conferencing is usually preferred, however, I understand obstacles with making arrangements whether it be work or whatever can make this difficult. ParentSquare will push out a post notifying you and requesting you to select a date/time to meet.

Once you've signed-up, which would you indicate as a way to meet for our 10 minute PT Conference?
*
Now that COVID restrictions are lifted with possible updated policy improvements regarding safety, how likely are you to volunteer in the classroom, grade level events, field trips, or get involved with our PTO? We need you! : )

CHECK the boxes that best tell your school involvement.
(Background checks must be cleared 2 weeks prior to assisting/volunteering. Complete one at Open House and submit to the office or teacher.)

Required
Are you aware that a background check must be submitted each new school year for ANY in-school functions, traditional face-to-face conferences with me, or volunteering during school hours? If not, now you know, please complete a background check as soon as possible. These can take up to 10 school days for processing, plus it's free!

Have you submitted a new background form anytime between May 2023 and today?
*
Are you aware that students need access to a computer and online connectivity outside of the school building? If not, the answer is yes. For more information on eLearning days and connectivity please read the information on the BCSC website. There will be opportunities for students to take home their Chromebooks.
Do you consent for the student named above to take their Chromebook home and help the student be responsible to charge it over night before it comes to school? (Students not being given consent to take their Chromebooks home are still required to complete eLearning days and daily online assignments on their own private devices at home.)
*
High Ability Program Communication & Information: Who is the contact person for this program? (3rd Grade Teachers are NOT a part of the initial student selection process.) *
Multiple Language Learner Service (MLL; [aka English Language Learning Services (ELL)]): Who is the Parkside Elem. School MLL Teacher to communicate with regarding your child's progress in this program? *
Homework: How likely are you, the parent/guardian, willing to assist your child with 30 minutes worth of homework Monday thru Thursday? (This survey question will be used to determine homework expectations for the class.) *
After-school Dismissal Communication: How will your child be going home? (Changes made must be communicated to the school and bus driver by the Parent. Please, read the Students Handbook policy.) *
Required
After school Dismissal Communication: What is their Car rider number &/or Bus Number?  (If this does not pertain to you, then skip.)
Now that COVID policies have lifted, students do not need to bring in water bottles. Students bringing in water bottles will be told to leave them in their backpacks for before and after school use or on occasion during PE & lunch. All classrooms have water fountains. There is also a limited number of toilets in our facility, so this may also assist with the number of times the student needs to excuse themselves. We will have designated toilet use times. The new classrooms will only have one toilet for the classroom. At this age they shouldn't have to go any earlier than 2 hours from the last time of use. If this becomes a problem, the teacher may ask for medical documentation stating the students accommodation for more frequent use. As the teacher, I also understand that sometimes we have emergencies, but emergencies are not daily. If you feel the student may need a change of clothes due to a condition, the student may bring it in a name labeled bag to keep in their crate/cubby.
