Partnership with Mercer County Community College Center for Adult Transition (CAT) for our TPS' SpEd Graduates
In short:

We appreciate all the positive feedback from November's Board Presentation.

We all know 1 or 2 students (or even a handful of students) that attended and graduated from TCHS/DLTL or one of our Out-of-District Partners, who could benefit from a hands-on approach into college and/or a trade.

We are asking all of you to think back over the last year or two (or three) and put forth recommendations for us to reach out and recruit for this unique grant opportunity with MCCC.

An opportunity for our former special education students to enter into an array of occupations and fields with support in and out of the classroom; ie., job shadowing or coaching, tutoring, soft skills, and SEL.

And... If we come up with 25 solid candidates, we may be able to be renew and open up the grant to include our 2023 graduates (in and out of district).

We had many conversations about the lack of supported opportunities for our Special Education Population after high school; and now, we have a direct line to make a meaningful impact while trying to make up for the last few years during the Pandemic!

Any student recommendations will help our cause.  Thank you!

Quick Summary of Grant:
THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF HIGHER EDUCATION (OSHE) COUNTY COLLEGE-BASED CENTER FOR ADULT TRANSITION (CAT) has awarded Mercer County Community College with a Grant to help students with special needs achieve their post-secondary educational goals. Mercer’s goal for the Center for Adult Transition (CAT) is to broaden our ability to meet students where they are. We will do this by expanding wraparound services to support recruiting and onboarding students at our local high schools with developmental disabilities. With the increased outreach, we will build upon the DREAM program to accept more students and increase their likelihood of creating paths to credential building, supported employment, or credit-bearing continuing education. Finally, we will provide continuous professional development for our faculty and staff in case management and behavior management when teaching and assisting students with developmental disabilities.
