inesei@lehigh.edu ABSTRACT: This presentation overviews a collaborative industry-scale project hosted by the Utilities Service Alliance. Made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, this research and development project is designed to demonstrate how advanced technologies can be applied to preserve the economic competitiveness of the nation's nuclear power industry. Capabilities being developed and evaluated as a part of this Internet of Things (IOT) demonstration include: integrated field sensing systems, automated machine learning analytics and centralized monitoring and diagnostics. It is expected that much of the resultant learnings can be directly applied to other industries including fossil generation, renewables, oil and gas and other large-scale industrial operations. The final work product will consist of a single unified platform encompassing all capabilities, a business case valuation assessment and recommendations for further expansion.
