This for is for ALL current 5th graders in the Currituck County School District who are interested in signing up for 6th grade band for the 2020-2021 school year. This is not the official sign up. Information regarding the official sign up will be provided at a future time.

Please complete this form if your 5th grader is interested in 6th Grade Band next school year. If you have more than one rising 6th grader interested in band, please complete a separate form for each student.

Be Part of the Band Video - Instrument Selection
This video is provided for you to learn about the different instruments in band. Normally, the band directors would visit your school and demonstrate the instruments you can choose form in order to help you decide what to play. To help you make this decision, this video explains the different instruments and let's you hear and see them. Some of the instruments in this video are not allowed in 6th grade band, but you may be able to switch to them later on. In 6th grade band we only allow FLUTE, CLARINET, ALTO SAXOPHONE, TRUMPET, and TROMBONE. If you wish to play percussion, then choose any of the beginning instruments, you will have an opportunity later on.

Initial Band Costs
Families are expected to provide the instrument and method book for their student in band as. More information will be sent out concerning instrument purchasing or rentals. The music companies we use charge a monthly rental fee of about $35, and the method book is about $12. Before you decide not to enroll your student in band due to costs, please contact the band director at your child's school to discuss options to assist you. For those students who may need to loan a school instrument, those are only available on a first come, first served basis, and are limited.
