Are you interested in being a Bachelor in this year's Charity Auction, and helping us raise $80,000 for local breast cancer care in one night? Fill out the form on the next page, or print it out at Bachelor Form! First, please read the information below to learn what it takes to be a Bachelor for Hope:

The Bachelors for Hope Charity Auction is a fundraising event for the Northern Cancer Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation with the funds raised going directly to local breast cancer research, education and patient care.  This elegant dinner event has raised $1,332,606.84 over the past twenty- four years!

This event is attended by 400 women from Thunder Bay and the region.  Guests are treated to a delicious 4 course dinner and entertainment followed by the auction.  The auction consists of bachelors, each of whom are matched with a date package so the ladies in attendance are bidding on the bachelor and the pre-arranged date package he comes with.

In the past the date packages have included things like a helicopter ride over Thunder Bay, WestJet flights to any scheduled destination, or wine tasting led by a Sommelier paired with dinner for 10 at one of Thunder Bay’s finest restaurants.  The Bachelors enthusiastically introduce the date packages but are not considered as part of the package.

An event of this size requires a lot of planning and organizing.  The committee works very hard to ensure our bachelors are very comfortable and prepared for the event.
If you are selected, your mandatory time commitment for this event will be:

An orientation meeting: Tuesday, February 6th - 5:30 p.m.

Choreography dance classes: TBD - In February and March

A dress rehearsal: Thursday, April 18 - 7:00 pm
The Event: Friday, April 19 - 4:00 pm

The purpose of this event is to raise funds for breast cancer care and research so we also ask each bachelor to collect a minimum of $200 in pledges to assist in the fundraising. We have resources to help you with this aspect.

How is a Bachelor selected to participate?  Please fill out the attached Bachelor Profile form and submit along with a photograph to Elaine Graydon at the Health Sciences Foundation. Deadline for submissions is Monday, January 15th, 2024.  Once the bachelors have been selected, we will contact each applicant to inform them of the committee’s decisions. If you were not selected this year as a bachelor, we would still love to have you volunteer at the event as a host.

If you have any questions or want to discuss this in more detail, please do not hesitate to call me.
