Greetings, Hockinson Community:
We are reaching out to you on behalf of the Facilities Planning Committee (FPC). The FCP was established in June of 2022 with four main goals:
- Informing committee members of facilities updates, projects, and needs.
- Collaborating on solutions to short- and long-term facilities needs.
- Guiding a district-wide maintenance plan and short- and long-term facilities plan.
- Communicating with the larger community on the above topics.
The FPC uses a process-based approach to ensure that building maintenance and updates are community-informed and representative of school district needs. HSD’s FPC includes members of our community and our school district. It consists of 8 community members, a School Board representative, the district’s operations and business services directors, and superintendent. Meetings are facilitated by two representatives from the ESD 112’s Construction Services Group.
For nearly two years, the FPC has dedicated monthly meetings to delve into state Information and Condition of Schools (ICOS) reports, facility analysis summaries, enrollment data, and input from building leaders to identify the following facility maintenance and improvement priorities:
Priority 1: Address elementary school overcrowding (Hockinson Heights Elementary School is the
largest elementary
school in Clark County)
Priority 2: Plan for needed facility repairs and improvements for school facilities:- HVAC replacement at HHS and HHES
- Roofing replacement at HHS, HHES, and DO/Community Education
- Track resurfacing at HHS and HHS stadium field improvement options
- Safety upgrades at HHES, including public address system, security cameras, perimeter fencing, secure entry, and lockdown functionality.
- Access and parking lot improvements at HHES
- Creating a covered play area at HHES
- Creating a covered play area at HMS
- Improvements to HHS Multi-Purpose Room
