Before getting started there are a few forms we need to collect from you, as well as a bit of information so we can connect you with the YTA Site that works best. All YTA volunteers working with youth (ages 5–18) under federal law must complete a background check. You’ll need to complete TWO: Safe Play and Hire Right.
- Safe Play
Follow this link: NET GENERATION SAFE PLAY to get to the USTA’s Safe Play page and click “Get Safe Play Approved.” This is required per the USTA. The first time getting Safe Play approved can take some time, you’ll be taken through online modules and the entire process could take up to two hours. You don’t have to do it all at once, you can save and return. We understand this is a big time commitment but it’s a hard and fast rule, and we are required to provide Safe Play documentation for all staff and volunteers. Once the initial approval is done the annual renewal just takes a few minutes. When done, please email your Safe Play Expiration Date to info@youthtennisadvantage.org or give to your site director
- YTA’s background check
You’ll also be sent via email a secondary background check from Hire Right. This is YTA’s background check. Per the USTA National, we are not allowed to use your Safe Play background check as our own and do not have access to any information via Safe Play other than your expiration date. And so, we are required to run our own.
