Job Description
Sherwood Park Minor Baseball Association is looking for a skilled head coach to work with our
teams for theseason. The successful candidates will have a passion and respect for the game, great communication skills and a focus on player development.
Critical Tasks
Finding and using the teachable moments to develop players – both in hard skills and personal development (discipline, team work, leadership)
Development of lineups, rotations, on and off field coaching
Facilitation of practice and games (including tournaments)
Some administration – communications with parents, evaluation of players
Ability to work within the team environment and within the organizational structure and support of SPMBA.
Experience
Previous Head Coach experience, minimum 3 years. Well qualified Assistant Coaches with sufficient experience are welcome to apply. Must meet the minimum NCCP and other Coaching Requirements as defined by Baseball Alberta. Previous player experience at high level ball is an asset.
Job Type
The position will start shortly before evaluations begin in February and will likely consist of 2 -3 practice sessions per week and 3 - 5 games. The Head Coach will participate in the evaluation process of all of the rep teams. Games will begin in late April and go through to provincials in late July. Post-season play in August may occur.
Honoraria
Coaches may be eligible for an honoraria and may be subject to performance targets as required. Honoraria ranges based on experience. Eligible travel expenses (including a per diem) may be covered by the team/association.
In accordance with SPMBA policy, all coaches including assistant coaches for the 13U AAA team are eligible for reimbursement of any and all necessary expenses related to coach training.
