Following a successful discussion at the recent eResearch Australasia Conference, the Research Data Culture (RDC) group would like to invite participation in two national meetings to be held in December and February. The schedule arises due to a request from the Australian Research Data Commons.

The invitation is to representatives of the six support pillars that affect data outcomes in Universities (Archives, eResearch, ITS, Library, Records and the Research office) to discuss the different roles institutions and the Australian Research Data Commons could play in addressing the Yin and Yang of data (see eRA slides).

In the first phase of meetings,  we will seek a view of the ‘current state’ by sharing examples of good practice in key aspects of the data challenge:
FAIR open access data
Controlled access data
Balancing preservation and resourcing
Management of End-of-Life
Improving researcher participation

Many advances are being made in many Universities and the idea is to share those steps forward through the presentation of showbags highlighting good practice. Particularly, we would like to see if some cross-pillar activity is already occurring. If you would like to submit a showbag please find details and a submission link at

Please note that submission of a showbag is not necessary for attendance and the RDC welcomes all those interested in solving this problem (remote attendance of this meeting is not available as we seek a highly interactive experience).
