Bioinformatics of Microbial Single Cells Course Application

This course will provide hands-on training in computational techniques for the integration of single amplified genome (SAG) data in studies of microbial ecology and evolution. It will be held at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in East Boothbay, Maine, USA on April 3-9, 2022. There will be an optional software carpentry workshop held remotely from 12-4pm EST on March 8 - 11, 2022 for participants who would like to review computing basics beforehand.

To ensure the best experience by Course participants, and due to logistical constraints, the number of students will be limited to 20. All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and a negative PCR or antigen test within three days before arrival. Before registering for this Course, you must first apply to attend. Once the Organizing Committee has accepted your application, you will be asked to register and pay the registration fees. Participant selection will be based on the match between applicants’ interests to the Course agenda.

The application deadline is December 3, 2021. We will inform applicants of their acceptance and availability of stipends by early January 2022. Selected applicants will be asked to complete their registration and submit their payment before February 1 to ensure their participation. Course instructors and invited speakers do not need to apply and are exempt from registration fees.

Registration fee schedule:
Bioinformatics of Single Cells Course, external participants – $1,950
Bioinformatics of Single Cells Course, Bigelow participants – $800

The registration fee covers instruction, lodging, meals during the Course, and shuttle service to/from Portland (Maine) airport. A discounted registration fee for Bigelow participants will exclude lodging, meals and local transportation. A full registration fee will be charged regardless of the length of time a participant attends the Course.
