Essential Jewish Meditation Methods
Introductory and Refresher Course
A Series of Six Online Sessions
With Rabbi Meir Sendor
Wednesdays, April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5 12, 2021, 8 PM Israel Time
This series is intended for those who are new to traditional Jewish meditation and those with experience in Jewish and other meditation methods who would like a refresher.
We will cover three essential categories of Jewish meditation: quieting the mind to cultivate a stable and expanding field of awareness; vocalization to attune centers and levels of consciousness; and use of purified imagination for expanding awareness beyond physical stimuli and phenomena. These methods are presented in graded order of complexity, building our skills step by step.
Quieting (2 sessions): the method of Rabbi Kalonymus Kalmish Shapira of Piaseczno
Vocalization (2 sessions): the method of Rabbi Avraham Abulafia
Imagination (2 sessions): the methods of the Iyyun Circle and Rabbi Hayyim Vital
