Submit a resource for the Annea Lockwood LibGuide
In April 2022, Annea Lockwood will be the subject of a 3-day conference called Wild Energies: Live Materials presented by CRiSAP (Creative Research in Sound Arts Practice research centre), LCC, University of the Arts London. In conjunction with the conference, I am creating a library research guide about Annea Lockwood, her thinking, her work, and reception of her work. Use this form below. I am especially interested in links to dissertations and archival repositories, which a researcher would be unlikely to retrieve from a websearch.

 - Alexis Bhagat (www.nadalex.net)

Annea Lockwood is known for her explorations of the rich world of natural acoustic sounds and environments, in works ranging from sound art and installations, through text-sound and performance art to concert music.

Annea Lockwood’s career stretches over seven decades and three continents from New Zealand / Aotearoa to Europe to North America / Turtle Island.  Annea Lockwood's work is mingled within many histories of sound and musical experimentation. Her musical ouvre is extraordinarily diverse. Annea Lockwood's early concerts in London literally shattered glass. She moved her music -- instruments and audience -- out of the concert hall with her "Piano Transplants". She is best known for her phonographic works resulting from intense engagement with rivers and flowing waters. Across decades, she has continued to compose for ensemble, voice, piano, trumpet, electronics, and fixed media. The variety of output is united by "its invitation to listen intently and, through that, to think differently."
