Neurodiversity in Audio - Survey
I would like to invite you to take part in a research study. Before you decide you need to understand why the research is being done and what it would involve for you. Please take time to read the following information carefully.
Purpose of the study
This paper will aim to understand how seriously the audio industry is taking Neurodiversity, specifically the extent to which employers are taking meaningful action to make neuro-divergent professionals feel included and supported in their careers.
Why have I been chosen?
You have been chosen as you are neurodivergent. This includes those who have a formal diagnosis of: Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Tourette’s & more.
Do I have to take part?
Taking part is entirely voluntary.
Are there possible disadvantages and/or risks in taking part?
Discussing some of these topics may be triggering for some participants as there are questions around discrimination participants have faced and challenges at work directly related to them being neurodivergent
If you find yourself struggling in light of discussing these instances as part of the survey, please remember that all questions are voluntary and participants may skip questions at any time.
If, following your engagement in the project, you would like to seek further support for, or information about, your neurodivergence, you may wish to view the following website: https://www.thebraincharity.org.uk/get-help/
Will my taking part in this project be kept confidential?
Yes, All data will be kept in a locked file or secure computer with access only by the immediate research team.
What will happen to the results of the research project?
Results will be published in a report for the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity.
Once collection has been completed, the responses will be categorised and assessed to give a clear view of the most pressing challenges facing the neurodivergent people in the audio industry and it will suggest ways to overcome them.
Who is funding the research?
The Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity is funding this research.
Ethical review of the study
