input on a Policy to support our EUU "Safe Community Statement"
(2024 Jan 16)
Review up to now: At our November 2023 EUU AGM, we voted to accept a "Preliminary Safe Community Statement" with the understanding that 1) it is a statement of WHAT we expect within our community; 2) it is a living document and will be discussed at our Spring '24 retreat and in an online manner later as well, prior to the Nov. 2024 AGM, and 3) the "HOW" or Policy complement to the statement will be developed separately, beginning in 2024.

Those who are drafting a policy - that the Coordinating Council will discuss and vote on - would like input from as many EUU members as possible:
- How do you envision a "Safe Community" policy working in practice?
- What steps are vital in such a policy?
- How can we keep it as simple and effective as possible, within our small, volunteer community?

Please reply no later than February 29, 2024.
Feel free to share this with other EUU members in your local European UU community. It will also be published in the upcoming Unifier publication.

A suggestion has been made that individuals could be unfairly ostracised from our community if a complaint is made about them.
To what degree are you concerned, and therefore think that we need to build-in explicit safeguards against this possibility?

Are there any particular needs/concerns we should consider (in addition to the above) for in-person retreats? Feel free to write your ideas here.
