The award of Recognition of Service is available for past and current members of the Grafton Basketball Association who have displayed outstanding service to Grafton Basketball Association in the following categories.

Referring: Distinguished service to Grafton Basketball Association Inc. in refereeing. It is generally agreed that the member contributes for a period of at least 15 years. 

Playing: Distinguished service to Grafton Basketball Association Inc. in playing. It is generally agreed that the member contributes for a period of at least 25 years.

Administration: Distinguished service to Grafton Basketball Association Inc. in administration. It is generally agreed that the member contributes for a period of at least 10 years.

Coaching: Distinguished service to Grafton Basketball Association Inc. in coaching. It is generally agreed that the member contributes for a period of at least 15 years.

Scoring: Distinguished service to Grafton Basketball Association Inc. in scoring. It is generally agreed that the member contributes for a period of at least 15 years.

Volunteering: Distinguished service to Grafton Basketball Association Inc. in volunteering. It is generally agreed that the member contributes for a period of at least 15 years. Volunteering includes, but is not limited to managing teams, assisting in the running of competitions, assisting on event days.

National participation: Playing, refereeing, coaching or scoring in the National Basketball League (NBL), Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) or a countries equivalent competition or representing Australia in the sport of Basketball. The member is to have played in the aforementioned following representing GBAI.

Definition of distinguished service: Each year a member serves Grafton Basketball Association Incorporated in one of the areas identified will be counted as 1 year. 

e.g . a member plays in local competitions for 15 years. During this time the member also represented the Grafton Basketball Association Incorporated representative team for 6 years as a junior and 4 years as a senior. This equates to 25 years of service.
