We are in forested land at "the top" of a quiet residential neighborhood. Please note that our location is not fenced in. For safety, only children who are able to stay within our physical limits can participate in Forest Day. If your child tends to wander off and/or "test boundaries" with adults, this program may not be a good match. Feel free to email our director, Taira, if you have any questions.

Ages and Readiness:
Generally, our forest schoolers are 5 to 9 years. Forest school is a unique experience. We want every child to feel confident and to have fun. Please see below for how we determine readiness. Feel free to email our director, Taira, if you have any questions. If you feel your child needs additional support either emotionally or socially, please discuss with us before registration.

$15 non-refundable registration fee plus
$75 3-class series March; $100 4-class series April; $75 3-class series May; Due no later than first day of class.

Make-Up Day June 5
In case we need to cancel due to weather or any other urgent reason throughout the spring, we will offer a make-up day on June 5. If you live in west Marin, you know how stormy our weather has been. In addition to scheduling the make-up day, we are creating a Windy Wednesday Plan B. Please know that we take your child's safety very seriously. Please feel free to let us know if you have any creative ideas for a Windy Wednesday Plan B. For example, perhaps you know of an indoor space that we could use if need be.

Structural Change:
As of spring 2024, Emerald Heart Forest School offerings, including Forest Arts, are programs of In Place, a new local nonprofit focused on place-centered nature education. Emerald Heart's director, Taira, will be working closely with In Place to offer high quality nature education and to serve a wider range of our community.
