Oregon Band Directors Association Membership Registration Form
Article III: Membership (from OBDA Bylaws):

Section 1. Membership in the association shall be under three classifications: (1) Active members, (2) Associate members, and (3) Retired members. 

Section 2. Active members. Upon payment of dues active membership shall be open to all current Oregon band directors teaching elementary beginning band to college and shall be permitted to vote upon any business under discussion. Active members can also hold any leadership position by appointment or election. 

Section 3. Associate members. Upon payment of dues associate members shall have all the rights and privileges of active members, except that they cannot be an executive officer or representative and shall not be permitted to vote upon any business under discussion. Associate members may attend all meetings and may take part in all discussions the same as active members. Associate members include the following persons:
  1. Any active member who shall cease to be actively engaged in the teaching of a school band for a period of one year shall be ineligible for active membership but shall be eligible for associate membership upon payment of dues. This one year grace period can be extended under special circumstances with approval by the Board of Directors. 

  2. Any person interested in the general advancement and betterment of school bands in Oregon may become an associate member of this Association upon payment of dues. This can include: community band directors, private instructors, out of state band directors, music education students, etc.

Section 4. Retired members. Payment of dues are waived for retired membership for their contribution and service to the music education field. Retired members shall not be permitted to vote upon any business under discussion and can only hold specific leadership positions which includes committee chair positions (cannot be an executive officer or representative). 

Section 5. Active membership in the Association shall be by individuals (not by schools). These individuals shall be held morally responsible to the Association for infringements of ethics, rules, and requirements of the Association. 

Section 6. Membership Dues. Active membership dues shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for two years. Associate membership dues shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for two years. Retired membership dues are waived for their contribution and service to the music education field.
