We have all experienced profound trauma this past year. The pandemic, systemic racism, and general sense of divisiveness has left us all longing for the unity that the music classroom can foster—if we make it so. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) can provide a framework to help rebuild our communities and make meaningful music that connects with our students. We will also explore how SEL, equity, social justice, and advocacy intersect.
