Queer Youth Approval Board Application
We Are Family is creating a Mental Health Assistance Program and we need your help! We are looking for 3-5 youth to provide their insight on what makes a great and effective therapist as well as what you are really looking for in a therapist!

The Queer Youth Approval Board is a paid position that helps WAF identify the therapeutic needs of LGBTQIA+ youth and trains our network of therapists in affirmative care. Your role will be to provide feedback on what you think is important for a therapist or mental health practitioner to know and incorporate into their therapy practice as well as to talk to the therapists during training about what you think the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ youth are in therapy (of course therapy is never one size fits all, but feedback is definitely important).

Our first meeting will be to approve the therapist training and to provide any additional feedback you may want to include in the training itself.

Our next meetings will be:

January 24th at 5:00-6:30 pm on Google Meet Board meeting to begin talking about the training presented to our therapists
February 21st at 6:30- 8:00 pm on Zoom for our Therapist Training/Information Session

A little about the Mental Health Assistance Program: The Mental Health Assistance Program provides Crisis Prevention Services for our youth, refers our youth to LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapists, and provides funding for therapy sessions.

Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability and feel free to contact Chandler Massengale (Director of Mental Health Programs) at chandlerm@waf with any questions or concerns.
