We are looking for a variety of presentations for the Dancing with Decolonisation forum. Abstracts/framing statements for works should be no more than 250 words max (anything over this will not be accepted). Find more
information on the expectations for proposals here. The presentations fall into six separate categories as follows:
1. Performance / Video Talks
A work that you have personally choreographed and recorded for viewing. Rather than submitting the whole work, you may also submit a trailer for the work. Presentations run about 15 minutes each and will be grouped into sessions by the organizers. Up to 5 minutes of video content may be viewed during the presentation.
2. Academic Research Talks
Large research projects that you are currently working on or may have previously finished. Presentations run about 15 minutes each with time for discussion after. You may be grouped with others working on similar topics to encourage group discussion around a theme.
3. Panel Discussion
Do you have a group of people who want to talk about your experiences in work related to this forum? Submit a panel proposal for a given topic along with who will be on your panel and what questions you wish to explore. Panel discussions may run up to 30 minutes with time after for discussion.
4. Workshop or Movement Class
Are you working on a movement or education intervention that you would like to engage others with? Feel free to propose a workshop session! You'll need to explain your idea and goals in your abstract. Workshops should run about 30 minutes with time after for discussion and exploration.
5. Works in Progress
Do you have a provocation that you would like to explore within a group setting? Are you stuck with a production you're working on and need help moving forward? Maybe you are working on research and would like some feedback? Works in Progress run about 15 minutes and have time reserved for discussion after.
6. Something Else
Have an idea that you don't think fits within these areas? Submit a proposal anyway and we will see where your work may fit.
