Lord, Teach Us to Pray--Prayer in Motion
We are currently observing the season of Lent. The theme of our Lent worship and learning at First Lutheran this year is based on a request of Jesus from one of the disciples, "Lord, Teach Us to Pray."
We gather in-person every Wednesday night in Lent for worship at 6:00 followed by a brief Confirmation Check-In with our grade groups. If you cannot make it in-person, please watch the Livestream from the evening either live or it will be available around 7:00pm, here https://flcminot.com/view-worship/

Begin by watching the video of Wednesday Night Worship with the Prayer Panel (Melissa, Pastor Ellery and Pastor Brandy) discussing Prayer in Motion. (Find it on the website at https://flcminot.com/view-worship/ ) *
What are one or two ideas that you remember from the "prayer panel" discussion about prayer in motion? If you were part of the conversation, what would you add? *
Think about your body in prayer. What prayer postures have you typically used while praying (for example: kneeling, sitting, hands folded, arms up, hands waving, walking, etc.)? What other postures might be helpful in your prayer practice? *
Think of some of the best conversations you’ve had with a friend or family member. What were you doing while you talked? What might this tell you about ways to expand or diversify your prayer practice? *
Here's a simple action you can add to your prayer practice. Make the sign of the cross on your body with your hand as you name God: Father (touch your forehead), Son (lower chest or stomach) and Holy Spirit (touch each of your shoulders). Amen. How did you feel when you did this? Would your prayer time feel different if you began and/or ended with this action? *
Go for a prayer walk in your neighborhood right now, or sometime this week! As you walk, pray for the people who live in the houses you pass; pray for the schools, churches, and business you see. Pay attention to the thoughts that bubble up in your heart and mind. Listen to what God might be saying to you that day.
