MOASH Board of Directors Application

The Michigan Organization on Adolescent Sexual Health mobilizes youth voices, engages community partners, and informs decision makers to advance sexual health, identities, and rights. Board members are responsible for the health of the organization, including compliance of laws, strategic planning, and fiscal wellbeing. Board membership is a volunteer position and Board members receive no compensation.

A qualified candidate must be willing to make the following commitments: 

●   Commit to one three-year term (YOUTH COMMIT TO ONE TWO-YEAR TERM).

Board members commit to one three-year term with potential for re-election for two additional terms. Youth (ages 13-24) Board members commit to one two-year term and are eligible for re-election for two additional terms, unless they turn 25 prior to completion of term.

●   Provide approximately 2-5 hours of monthly service.

This time includes Board meeting attendance, committee meeting participation, and independent follow through on any assigned or volunteered projects and activities. The number of service hours will vary based on Board member areas of responsibilities and time of year.

●   Participate in quarterly Board meetings.

Board meetings take place in-person from 12pm-3pm at different locations across the state. Some allowances can be made for virtual participation via video conference. It is required that Board members attend 75% of Board meetings.

●   Serve on at least one committee.

Board members must attend and participate in a minimum of at least 75% of monthly committee meetings. Committee meetings are typically held via conference call. 

●   Commit to fundraising.

MOASH has a 100% giving Board and all members agree to become a MOASH member (see www.moash.org/donate). All members secure a minimum of 10 new donors per fiscal year.

●   Members of Board of Directors of any non profit organization are legally bound to adhere to the fiduciary of care, loyalty and obedience.

Please note: Currently, the MOASH Board of Directors is actively seeking Board members with experience in human resources and legal professions. The Board is also actively seeking youth (ages 13-24) to serve on the Board of Directors.
